You’ve got questions
We’ve got answers

  • Heck yeah! We’ve started a new community garden. Think 800m2 of veggie beds, worm farm + compost drop off, native pollinator plants, individual plots, communal herb beds and working bees.

  • You can find all the juicy details here. Our proposal document includes the strategic vision and initial site design.

  • 520 Punt Road, South Yarra. Join us at one of our regular Working Bees - they’re a great way to meet fellow gardeners and get your hands in the soil. We post the updates on IG too, so make sure to follow us there for all the latest garden news.

  • You can sign up here.

While membership was free during the planning phase, we’ve now introduced a $25 annual community membership. This helps us cover essential ongoing costs like water, compost, and insurance.

Please note: To go onsite, you’ll need to be a member. This is part of our lease agreement and ensures you’re covered by public liability insurance. You can pay your membership fee here.

  • Everyone’s welcome! Follow us on IG to stay up to date with news and events. Or sign up to our mailing list for the occasional email.

We’d love to see you at our fortnightly regular Working Bees. They’re on every two weeks. We’ve been building the garden since April and we need all hands on deck to make garden beds, plant plants and shovel mulch.

  • Yes. Membership fees help us pay for costs like insurance, soil and mulch. We really appreciate your support.

There are two types of membership.

    1. Friends of the Garden ($25/adult/year, $10/child/year) – For community members who drop off green waste, enjoy the green space, and take part in working bees.

    2. Plot Carers ($250/year) – For Friends of the Garden who have been allocated a specific garden plot in the ballot.

We aim to  keep membership fees as accessible as possible. If you hold a Concession Card, please email us at punthillcomgarden@gmail.com

  • The garden has 42 beds in total, with 36 of those being individual plots. At the end of 2025, we allocated the first 18 plots via our first ballot to Friends of the Garden who have been busy bees - attending working bees, baking cakes, or driving trailers!

We still have 18 more plots to go. We’re planning to launch our second plot ballot in late March 2026, with successful applicants contacted in early April. The best way to have a plot is to get involved in the community!

  • We’re an independent not-for-profit run by passionate volunteers, all of whom have full-time jobs!). Our funding comes from grants, donations, membership fees and future merch (yes, tote bags are coming!). We’re very grateful to our supporters and sponsors. You make the garden possible.

If you’d like to donate and help us grow, please do so here. Note: The Punt Hill Community Garden is a registered Australian Charity and NFP, but we do not yet have DGR status, so donations are not currently tax-deductible.
